Remembrance Day in Newmarket

  • Doug Duncan Drive Newmarket, ON, L3Y Canada (map)

On November 11, we stand for a moment of silence to show our appreciation and respect for all who have served in the Canadian Armed Forces and given up their lives in the line of duty. Flags will be lowered to half-mast at all Town of Newmarket buildings as well as Central York Fire Services facilities on November 11.

Here are some ways you can remember Canada's veterans for Remembrance Day:

  • Wear a Poppy and/or make a donation. Proceeds go towards financial assistance to support Veterans and their families who are in need.

  • On November 10, a Remembrance Parade will be hosted by the Newmarket Legion at 1:30 p.m. starting at Doug Duncan Drive, followed by a Service at the Cenotaph in Veteran’s Memorial Park located at D’Arcy and Church Street. Learn more by calling the Newmarket Legion at 905-895-5481.

  • On November 11, the Newmarket Veterans’ Association will have its annual Service at the Newmarket Cemetery (112 Main Street North). The ceremony will start at approximately 10:30 a.m., with the Newmarket Citizens Band participating.
